Berkshire head to Wormsley with NCCA T20 title in sight
Berkshire Cricket will be aiming to cap an impressive NCCA T20 campaign with silverware when they join Staffordshire, Bedfordshire and Devon at NCCA T20 Finals Day at Wormsley on Sunday, 30 August 2026.
The four counties have earned their places at Finals Day after winning their respective Super 12s competitions, setting up a fantastic day of T20 cricket at one of the most picturesque and renowned cricket grounds in England.
Finals Day schedule
The day’s action will begin with the first semi-final:
🏏 Semi-Final 1: Staffordshire v Bedfordshire
Staffordshire, the 2023 champions, will face a Bedfordshire side reaching Finals Day for the first time since 2015.
The second semi-final will then see Berkshire take centre stage:
🏏 Semi-Final 2: Berkshire v Devon
Berkshire will face a Devon side appearing at Finals Day for the first time in eight years, with the winners progressing to the day’s final and a chance to lift the NCCA T20 trophy.
The Final will follow the two semi-finals, bringing the day’s action to a conclusion and crowning the 2026 National Counties T20 champions.
Berkshire’s route to Finals Day
Berkshire secured their place with a convincing 52-run victory over Cornwall at Wargrave.
After Cornwall had beaten Suffolk by four wickets in the earlier eliminator, Berkshire produced a composed performance to take control of the Super 12s final.
Batting first, Berkshire posted 174 for seven, with Matt Dalrymple leading the scoring with 43. There were also important contributions from James Isbell (28), Ben Salter (26) and Andrew MacEwen (26) as Berkshire built a competitive total.
The bowlers then produced the decisive performance. Nilesh Bhandari took 3-22 and Sulaiman Akhtar 3-12, helping Berkshire reduce Cornwall from 79 for three to 97 for eight. Cornwall captain Paul Smith offered some resistance with 47, but Berkshire eventually dismissed them for 122 to secure a 52-run victory.
It was a strong all-round display and one that demonstrated the depth Berkshire possess in the T20 format.
Devon provide the next challenge
Berkshire’s semi-final opponents, Devon, also impressed in their Super 12s final.
At Exeter, Devon defeated Buckinghamshire by 86 runs, posting 178 for seven before their spinners took control of the chase.
Matt Whalley claimed 4-23 and Sam Read 3-16 as Buckinghamshire collapsed to 92 all out.
Devon will therefore arrive at Wormsley full of confidence, but Berkshire will know that another disciplined all-round performance could put them within one game of national honours.
A day of high-quality T20 cricket
The opening semi-final between Staffordshire and Bedfordshire promises to set the tone before Berkshire and Devon take to the field.
Staffordshire arrive with previous NCCA T20 success behind them, while Bedfordshire have momentum after beating both Shropshire and defending champions Norfolk at their Super 12s event.
For Berkshire, the challenge is clear: beat Devon and they will reach the NCCA T20 Final.
With the final following later in the day, there is the prospect of a dramatic finish at Wormsley as the two semi-final winners battle for the 2026 title.
