On Sunday , Berkshire men’s white ball campaign came to an end. They faced up to Dorset in the first game of the day at Wargrave CC. Dorset full of confidence after winning the 50 over competition recently were asked to bat first.
They started brilliantly and some huge 6s were struck by both opening batters early on. The Berkshire bowlers all struggled to keep them contained and Dorset bludgeoned their way to 177 for 6 off their 20 overs. Eckland with 51 and Church with 48 and were the main tormentors. Rishton once again was pick of the bowlers with 1 for 21 in his 4 overs.
Berkshire needed a strong start in their power play to get close and unfortunately that did not happen. The Dorset bowlers and fielders were excellent throughout and Berkshire never really got going. Ending all out for 117. After losing that game we needed to beat Suffolk and hope Dorset lost to Suffolk.
Berkshire decided to bat first against Suffolk and beautiful 90 from Connell and 51 not out from our captain Lincoln set up a total of 169 for 4 in our 17 overs. Suffolk were never really in the run chase and Samm Daniel returned career best figures of 4 for 18 in 4 overs to bowl them out for 124.
Berkshire needed a favour from Suffolk but alas that never materialised and Dorset advanced through to finals day.
3 Day PreviewThe Berkshire men switch back to red ball this weekend as we welcome Herefordshire CC down to Falkland CC. After the disappointment of Sunday’s Super 12s the boys are ready for their last push to defend their 3 day crown. Euan Woods, Greg Smith and exciting youngster Andrew MacEwen come back into the team. We are looking forward to being back at Falkland and are hoping for another decent crowd.
