🌟 Staff Spotlight: Mark Foster – Head of Participation
We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Mark Foster, Berkshire Cricket’s Head of Participation! Mark has been a cornerstone of Berkshire Cricket for many years — officially joining full-time in May 2006, but first coaching for the county way back in 2000. His dedication and experience have made him a driving force behind cricket participation across the county.
About His Role:
Mark leads the Participation Team, overseeing all programmes that help introduce and grow cricket at every level. He also runs the County’s Coach Development Programme, supporting the next generation of coaches to deliver fun, inclusive, and high-quality cricket experiences.
No two days are the same for Mark — his role spans everything from grassroots development to coach education and community engagement.
What He Loves Most:
“The varied day-to-day nature and getting to work with people who are making a difference for young cricketers here and now.”
Mark thrives on working with passionate people who share a common goal — to give every young cricketer the best possible opportunity to play, learn, and love the game.
Off the Field:
Though very much retired from playing, Mark’s cricketing roots run deep. He played for Falkland and Berkshire. Away from cricket, he’s a Watford & San Francisco 49ers fan.

“Less teams/counties – more quality games.”
Mark believes in quality over quantity when it comes to player development, focusing on creating meaningful opportunities and experiences for young cricketers rather than simply increasing numbers.

Mark had a 280 day Wordle streak!
