Schools Across England & Wales Invited to Celebrate 50 Days to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with National Schools Cricket Day – 23 April 2026

As excitement builds for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup arriving in England and Wales, schools are being invited to take part in a nationwide Schools Cricket Day on 23 April 2026, marking 50 days to go until the tournament begins. The initiative aims to bring barrier-free cricket to as many children as possible—across primary, secondary, SEND and ALN settings.

This major grassroots celebration is being delivered in partnership with Recreational Cricket Boards, Chance to Shine, and Lord’s Taverners, following discussions with RCB Lead Officers at September strategy workshops and with School Leads at the Chance to Shine Derbyshire event.

The day will champion cricket across the curriculum, encouraging pupils to take part in a wide variety of cricket-inspired activities—from fun games and classroom learning to themed assemblies, creative projects or even serving up a classic cricket tea. The goal is simple: to inspire a lifelong love of the game.

In January 2026, the formal registration system will open, allowing schools to sign up through a central platform that matches their requests with local delivery support. A wide range of digital resources will be released to help teachers lead activities, while selected schools will receive in-person cricket sessions delivered by charity partners, Recreational Cricket Boards and local clubs.

Early-bird registrants will gain access to exclusive resources and opportunities for money-can’t-buy experiences, making this Schools Cricket Day even more memorable.

Schools are encouraged to express their interest now via the link or QR code provided. Lord’s Taverners and Chance to Shine will continue working with School and SEND leads to support local promotion and maximise participation.
