Following our first outing of the 2026 season with a pre-season friendly against our neighbours Bucks, the Women’s 1stXI makes the trip Southwest to face Devon in our first competitive fixture.
The fixture has the hallmarks of an exciting encounter with both sides having strong first seasons in Tier 3 in 2025. The Head-to-Head score from last summer was two wins a piece in the 4 fixtures between the sides. This included the last game of 2025 when Berkshire won the 50 over final.
Opening batter, Alex Avoth and all-rounder Mary Briscoe return to the side having not been involved against Bucks. Mary is fresh off the back of being involved in Hampshire 2nd team cricket in midweek, one of 4 current Berkshire cricketers involved with Molly Bulteel, Naaz Asif Iqbal & Emma MacEwen all in action as well. Coincidentally, Mary came away with a prized wicket of Berkshire’s most capped Women’s 1st XI cricketer Alice Macleod who is now a professional cricketer at Essex. Full team news will follow in due course.
The squad can’t wait to test ourselves against a talented Devon side in what should be an excellent advert for the abundance of talent within Tier 3 cricket. The group will look to continue to build on a positive start in 2025, as we look to leave the programme in the strongest possible position for the future generations of Girls in Green.
