Berkshire Cricket Brings the Festival to Slough This Bank Holiday Monday

On Monday 25 May, Berkshire Cricket takes centre stage at Lascelles Park in Slough for the Community Tapeball Challenge; a free, festival-style cricket event open to all, headlined by a six-a-side competition with a £750 prize up for grabs.

Berkshire Cricket is proud to be delivering one of the most exciting community cricket events the county has hosted this year. The Tape ball Challenge at Lascelles Park on Bank Holiday Monday is being run, organised, and coached by Berkshire Cricket, and promises a brilliant day of fast paced cricket, inclusive sessions, and community celebration.

The event also marks the official launch of newly refurbished artificial cricket pitches at Lascelles Park, funded through an £82,676 investment from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and KP Snacks, a welcome upgrade that gives local communities high quality pitches to play on for years to come.

The Tapeball Challenge: What to Expect

At the heart of the day is the Community tape ball Cricket Competition; a six-a-side tournament played across Lascelles Park’s two brand new astro surfaces from 10am to 3.30pm. Teams will battle it out in short, sharp innings of up to 20 balls, with runs scored through boundaries and running between the wickets.

The format is fast, fun and accessible, exactly what tape ball cricket does best. All players have the opportunity to bat, bowl and keep wicket, overs are four balls, and the usual cricket dismissals apply (minus LBW). It’s the perfect blend of competitive edge and community spirit.

Competition highlights at a glance:

  • Format: Six-a-side, 20-ball innings, four-ball overs
  • Prize: £750 for the winning team, plus the Tapeball Challenge Trophy
  • Expect a high level
  • Date & Venue: Monday 25 May 2026, Lascelles Park, Slough, 10am–3.30pm
Berkshire Cricket Skills Sessions: Everyone Welcome

Not in a team? No problem. Throughout the day, Berkshire Cricket coaches will run free, open cricket skills sessions for children and families alongside the competition. These sessions give attendees of all ages the chance to try batting, bowling, fielding drills and cricket games in a relaxed, welcoming and engaging environment.

Sessions run on the hour:

  • 11am
  • 12 noon
  • 1pm
  • 2pm

Berkshire Cricket staff will also be on site all day to share information about community cricket hubs, Street Cricket sessions (including girls-only sessions across Slough), and the many pathways into cricket across the county.
