Meet The Team – Greg Smith

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Greg Smith – Pathway Coach

Meet Greg Smith, one of Berkshire Cricket’s dedicated Pathway Coaches, who joined the team on 1 October 2025. Greg plays a key role in shaping the future of young cricketers across the county.

About His Role

Greg delivers Berkshire Cricket’s Performance Programmes across both the boys’ and girls’ pathways.
His coaching creates environments where players can explore, grow, and leave each session achieving something new, no matter their starting point.

What He Loves Most

“Providing players with the opportunity to explore and develop, ensuring each individual leaves the room feeling a sense of achievement and progress.”

Off the Field

Alongside his love of cricket, Greg is a long-suffering but loyal Reading FC fan—supporting them for his sins, as he puts it!

Sporting Inspiration

Greg’s sporting hero is Muhammad Ali:
“Incredible self-confidence in his own abilities and an unwavering dedication to his craft.”

Vision for Cricket

A bold one!
Greg proposes run deductions in limited-overs cricket for teams that don’t hit a boundary in an over.
No boundary? Minus two runs.
A creative, high-pressure twist to the game.

Fun Fact

Greg is colour-blind, something he navigates every day both on and off the field.

Favourite Quote

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Berkshire Cricket is proud to have Greg developing the next generation of players, inspiring confidence, growth, and ambition across our performance pathways.
