Berkshire Women Continue Strong Division 1 Campaign with Victory Over Cambridgeshire
Berkshire Women’s 1st XI continued their impressive 2026 ECB Women’s County Championship campaign with a three-wicket victory over Cambridgeshire Cricket Board at Falkland Cricket Club on Sunday.
The result sees Berkshire move to five wins from six matches, maintaining second place in Division 1 with 24 points and keeping the pressure on unbeaten leaders Devon.
Cambridgeshire won the toss and elected to bat, but Berkshire’s bowlers quickly established control. Molly Bulteelremoved Sophie Singer and Lulu Harding, while Naazneen Asif Iqbal added two wickets during an excellent spell of 10 overs for just 17 runs.
Cambridgeshire slipped to 64-6 before a valuable partnership between Millie Rawlins and Abi Davis helped rebuild the innings. The pair added 50 for the seventh wicket, with Davis contributing 38 from 66 balls.
Rawlins continued to anchor the Cambridgeshire innings, reaching an impressive 61 from 95 balls, including seven fours. However, regular wickets late in the innings saw Cambridgeshire bowled out for 180 in 48.4 overs.
Immi Storrar was Berkshire’s leading wicket-taker, finishing with 3-43, while Bulteel and Asif Iqbal claimed two wickets each.
Berkshire made a positive start to their reply, reaching 50 inside the tenth over.
Sahasra Gupta played a key role in setting up the successful chase, scoring a composed 42 from 66 balls, including five boundaries. She built useful partnerships throughout the innings, including with Ashneet Chahal, who added 24 from 41 balls.
After Gupta was dismissed with the score on 143, Livia Sharma took responsibility for finishing the job. Sharma remained unbeaten on 23 from 29 balls, with three boundaries, and received valuable support from Mary Briscoe, who finished 7 not out.
Berkshire reached 181-7 in 33.1 overs, completing the victory with 101 balls remaining.
Strong position in Division 1
The 5-point victory strengthens Berkshire’s position in the Division 1 title race. With six matches played, Berkshire have won five and lost just one, sitting second behind Devon, who remain unbeaten.
Berkshire’s remaining fixtures will be crucial as they look to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.
